The point I was trying to raise with this item was how advocates were carefully choosing their words in order to shape this debate.

The language used in the HRC videos (and by advocates on both sides of the issue, really) is not chosen lightly.

In fact, there's a lot of thought that goes into the exact words people are using, especially in short, casual-sounding videos.

What I hoped Ellner would do (and think he did) was a) explain why he chose the words he did, and b) explain how those words relate to the way he sees the debate.

Hopefully, the item was informative and more clear-cut than my rambling here.

Just another childish publicity stunt to raise money. GetEqual sent emails today looking for 400 people to donate $15/month so they can engage in more unproductive stunts.

I think the LGBT community understand these self-serving publicity stunts ($100,000 a year salaries) do not change any minds or votes, they just make us look stupid. Religiously-infected Boehner isn't going to change because a few misfits won't leave his office. It's childish.

If you want to make a difference, try conversation instead of confrontation. It's more difficult than parading around with clever signs or hndcuffing yourself to a fence, but IT WORKS.

Yep, I was there. Diaz tried to sneak in by arriving on the Van Nest Avenue side of the Restaurant. He also a had some big side of beef with two hand casts try to intimidate the protesters.

And as you can see from the video, it was Diaz's party who were being the real a-holes.

As I noted elsewhere, one guest actually line, feigning anger, trying to pick a fight with a female QR member and telling QR to shut up and leave because there was a memorial or wake taking place inside.

When he went inside, someone came outside and told us there was no wake taking place; it was just Diaz and his party.

My SPOUSE and I got married in Connecticut on December 23, 2008. I am a very happily married man!!! Why did I want my spouse to make the trip from Southern New Jersey to Bridgeport, Ct.? I wanted that piece of paper saying "Marriage License" before it could be stolen from us. Organized religions have stolen a basic civil rights from me and many others. We own a home in Ca. But before we could get back from NJ to Ca. during that short "window" to get legally getting married in Ca.The Constitution was changed but what of those married under the law in force atthe time? Our 33 year monogamous commitment to each other didn't measure up to their religions "doctrine" Our religion's doctrine recognizes our marriage and long term commitment. Trying to say any religion is superior to another flys in the face of the 1st Amendment Protection. Denying us of over 1130+ federal rights and responsibilities tells me the majority don't believe we are "worthy" of marriage, but still worthy of taxation. Marriage is a CIVIL function that ONLY the state can perform!!! Why is the word SPOUSE so Important??? My company was part of the banking melt down of 2007/2008.Now insurance coverage recognizes SPOUSE but not Civil Unionist? or Domestic Partners to the same degree LEGALLY. Meaning, company insurance coverage, or medical coverage to the same degree,and other items too numerous to list. But discrimination is still discrimination no matter how religion tries to wrap it. Our children will give their elders finally the "right" to marry. Same as the inter-racial marriage. Being a second class or lower citizen, demaens me and all Americns wanting the American Dream. Religion and money bought control the legislative process. Look at the prescription cover they will be forced to pay

All politicians wanting our vote LIED to us to get into office or stay in office. Allowing the citizens to expunge on a bill that has passed into law in several states normally isn't allowed by the State Constitution. Citizens have voted to. Prop 8 and Maine Prop 1 are TYRANNY of the majority. Wait till the Muslims outnumber the Christians, and kick them out of office?

We have a long road ahead of us, but we cannot give up. We will win this fight, state by state, vote by vote, until we have the right to marry anywhere in our country (yes, this is our country too..), but we must start by standing firm and making our position known.

As a wedding officiant, each wedding I create is created for each couple to reflect their love, passion, family, faith and supportive community of family. Sometimes I create a ceremony for a couple that is young and found a love partner to begin life with. Sometimes I celebrate a wedding for a couple that has taken a journey in life to find one another...they bless the "Broken Road". Other times, I create a one of a kind ceremony for a couple that married long ago and now come together to celebrate the life that made them the different people they are as they affirm their union.

Each celebration, each wedding and marriage is different. Each honors the uniqueness of the couple and the beauty of the diversity of each person created by God.

I celebrate each love and honor each love in a distinct way though each couple seeks to be married.

If we believe in love and that some who love choose to formalize and legalize their love with a partnership in marriage, how can we decide who can be granted this and who can not? Should not all consenting adults be able to make their own choices of a life's partnership? To marry or not?

Each love is different and love is sufficient unto love....

I am grateful to celebrate the love of two people and the Spirit of the Divine...the author of love.
